Manufacturing Engineer
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To develop, implement, review and improve a production process to produce a product that meets all customer and internal specifications. To provide technical support and clear communications to all users of the process. Through support processes add a maximum amount of value to each product with a minimum amount of resources.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Core functions are italicized)
· Evaluate existing assembly processes and methods and provide recommendations to reduce cost, improve manufacturability of products.
· Develop, write and maintain equipment and assembly procedures in the form of Manufacturing Operating Procedures.
· Develop and write assembly-manufacturing documentation in the form of Manufacturing Process Instructions to meet customer and internal specifications.
· Monitor and evaluate quality data and develop methods to improve quality levels.
· Troubleshoot manufacturing processes, techniques and quality issues and develop corrective actions to maintain productivity and acceptance level.
· Establish labor standards for assembly operations and monitor performance to the standards.
· Design and evaluate production tooling in order to improve productivity and to meet customer assembly requirements.
· Generate labor estimates for Quote Requests and provide recommendations to reduce manufacturing costs.
· Develop and recommend equipment and workstation layout to optimize production efficiency and improve quality levels of processes.
· Develop methods to measure, monitor and evaluate equipment and processes.
· Perform capability and variability studies on new and existing equipment and tools.
· Establish and verify new equipment capabilities and new process parameters prior to release to production.
· Work cohesively in a team environment.
· Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures.
· Ensure work area is neat, clean and in a safe condition at all times.
· Report any accidents or unsafe conditions to your supervisor.
· To act on behalf of the Director of Engineering during his absence on matters within the Process Engineering group.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
· BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Must demonstrate initiative, creativity and problem solving skills.
· Statistical Process Control experience required.
· Ability to work effectively with a minimum of direct supervision.
· Knowledgeable in PC based software applications.

· Ability to interface with all levels of the organization, customers and vendors.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Majority of time spent in light manufacturing environment.
· Some exposure to hazardous material.
