Electronics Technician 1

TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Production Supervisor

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible to diagnose complex test failures. Gather and analyze data to be used in preventing future failures and reducing troubleshooting time.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

•  Responsible for high level functional test diagnostics. Repair of all test systems assigned

•  Repair of Electronic circuits or Systems to component level

•  Analysis of problems and resolution is required both with product and test systems

•  From output message data in either printed or displayed format the technician is responsible for diagnosing products using digital multi meters, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, logic probes, and other measurements or input devices

•  Operation of in-circuit, burn-in and functional test systems

•  Inspect failed boards for workmanship problems

•  Perform simple rework or repair of nonconforming product using a solder iron or de-soldering machine to IPC-610 guidelines

•  Tag complex rework for repair by the repair operators

•  Log product data for efficiency or quality reporting

•  Assemble posttest parts per the MPI

•  Tune/adjust product as required per the test procedure

•  Mark successful completion of test per the MPI

•  Expected to call upon higher level technical staff to assist in diagnosing complex failures

•  Train and assist lower technical staff in resolving problems with product and systems

•  Act as a ultimate source of technical knowledge on assigned products

•  Work cohesively in a team environment

•  Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures

•  Ensure work area is neat, clean, and in a safe condition at all times

•  Report any accidents or unsafe conditions to Group Leader or Supervisor

•  Perform other duties as required by Supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

•  High school diploma or equivalent

•  Formal education in electronics either through military or college education (note: may be waived in specific circumstance)

•  0-10 years of experience in electronic diagnosis of both systems and boards required

TYPE & DEGREE OF COMMUNICATION:

• Good oral/written communication skills

• Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization and other entities as necessary

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Majority of time spent in sitting position

  • Use of fine precision tools (microscopes, digital multi-meters)

  • Work in close proximity to high voltage test equipment

  • Enters burn-in room at elevated temperatures (60° Celsius) for a short duration several times per shift.
